NOTE: And what brought the huge crowd out on Palm Sunday to welcome with shouts and praises the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem - thus fulfilling Scripture? It was the raising of Lazarus from the dead! Those who observed this seventh sign of Jesus as recorded in John's Gospel - were present. And - they had shared the news widely causing the crowd to swell in numbers. “For this causealso the crowd met him” 12:18a.

Again - note the Paragraph, Subdivision and Sentence structure of this portion of Scripture. It clearly draws out the above insights.

In 12:20-21 Philip is confronted by Greeks seeking Jesus. This is as significant as the Roman Cornelius being visited by an angel in Acts 10 and 11 - and commanded to find Peter, who would give words whereby heand his familywould find Christ. He invited his friendsas well! Just as the early church was moved in a new direction concerning Gentiles, and made significant changes in rules between Jews and Gentiles in Acts 15 - so Jesus here recognized that Greek Gentiles seeking Him - was God's signal that His death, Resurrection, Ascension and Pouring out of the Holy Spirit was at hand!

His words at this point to the Jewish crowd - prepared them for His soon return to His Father in Heaven - following His soon Redemptive Act on Calvary for allnations. The “One New Man” Mystery set forth by the Apostle Paul in the book of Ephesians, gives theological background for John chapter 12 and Acts 15.

Do these words of Jesus pose difficulty for us as they did to the Jews of His day? To pray and meditate over this section will release the Holy Spirit, our Teacher, to illumine our understanding. But even more - to serveJesus with one's whole heart, soul, mind and strength - will bring forth honorfrom the Father (12:26).

Great insight on the importance of honorcan be found in “Warfare by Honor” - the Restoration of Honor - a Protocol Handbook by Qaumaniq and Suuqiina, First Nations husband and wife team. See Indigenous Messengers Int'l, PO Box 1088, Victorville CA 92393, Tel: 615-424-7948. - J.A.W.
